Nata gave us this cute German Advents Calendar. I put these little Ikea stuffed toys in for each day. It's so cute and such a fun tradition I remember from my childhood. Christmas time is when I miss Germany the most. I miss the sights, smells, Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market); Gluhwein (basically hot sangria); Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes); SNOW!!!!!

That is such a cute idea! I have some of those finger puppets too. I recognized the frog in particular.
My mom went to Germany a couple years ago around Thanksgiving and brought me back a little house with two moose in front of it. It says "Noch --- Tage bis Weihnachten" with a little dial to fill in blank with the right number. I've got it on my mantel right now.
I'm sorry you miss being there. It is hard. I miss going home to Selma, but no one lives there for me to go visit anymore.
